Sharp LC46SB54U Amazing HDTV
I baught this HDTV from PC Richards, and its the best I've seen so far. The reviews about the Poor AV is bogus. I have my xbox 360 hooked up to this with 1080P HDMI and it simply looks amazing. The fact that its 1080P compared to Sharp Aquos 1080i poor quality TV's says it all. My uncle has a Sharp Aquos (1080i) made in 2008 and the quality isnt even close to this on. This is a great buy and it is VERY THIN..Maybe 4 inches tops.

Sharp LC46SB54U Great Value!
I love this TV. Everyone is trying to get the best TV for the lowest price, and this is it. I love the sleek look of it. The viewing angle is fantastic. Picture and sound are great. I don't have a bad thing to say about it. You can buy this TV confidently.

Sharp LC46SB54U Great HDTV plain and simple
Although I wanted a very fancy 120hz 1080p etc etc tv i didnt have the cash for the size i wanted. So I went store shopping and compared how the tv's looked (walmart) and this tv looked the best when standing back comparing them all. I noticed it the second i walked into the electronics section. Its great. Hook ups are great, sound is great. I have only 1 complaint. The factory settings suck. I am a huge gamer. Socom confrontation (ps3) being my number 1 game has color and shadow issues that im still tweeking. I tried the game mode, movie mode, pc mode, all of them are bad. So i just picked game mode and have been tweeking it and i got it to the point where its all but perfect. (i dont mean hours of tweeking maybe 10-15 min tryin to pick the best for all maps) but i love it!! the freeze mode (no clue what i will use it for) is great (unless ur cat steps on it in the middle of a intense fire fight :( lol) ..other then that if u want a good sized tv, for a good price that looks just as good as the more expensive tvs this is it!!!

Sharp LC46SB54U Great TV for the price
I picked this TV up on Black Friday at an amazing price, and I'm very satisfied with it. I'm using both of the HDMI inputs (digital cable & Blu-ray player), one component video input (Nintendo Wii), and an RCA input (for a VCR). I've also hooked up my laptop to the PC input, just to see what it was like, and it looked great. I have the optical output going from the TV into my surround sound system, which also works well.
One great thing about this TV is that it remembers the video settings separately for each input, so I can fine-tune each device for the best experience. Another thing that surprised me was that when I hooked up my Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player to the HDMI input, the TV allowed the audio to pass through the optical out on the TV and into my surround sound receiver. From what I've seen on the Internet, and from a call to Sharp tech support, that isn't supposed to be possible. But it works! Maybe it's just this particular combination, but it was a pleasant surprise. No such luck with the digital cable box, though. It needs to use a separate audio cable -- the sound plays fine through the TV speakers, but it won't pass through the optical out. My understanding is that this is a limitation imposed by Hollywood and/or the music companies, and it only affects the HDMI inputs. Not sure on the details, though.
The picture on this TV has been better than expected, with GREAT color. It's much thinner and lighter than I expected, which would be good for someone who wants to wall-mount it. The built-in speakers actually sound quite good, which is a nice surprise, although I bypass them most of the time and use my surround receiver instead. The built-in tuner works, although it's a bit slow to change channels -- if you use digital cable, satellite, U-verse, FiOS, or whatever else, you won't be using the built-in tuner anyway, so it won't matter. My only minor gripe with the TV is that it only has 2 HDMI inputs, whereas the newer Sharp AQUOS line comes with 4. You can get around the limitation, of course, but it would've been nice to see more. There's also no picture-in-picture support, which doesn't matter at all to me, but it might be a downer for some people. The television runs at 60Hz instead of 120Hz, but so far I haven't seen anything that makes me wish it were at the faster speed. Everything looks great.
All-in-all, for the price I paid, I'm extremely happy with this television. It does a great job with everything I currently have hooked up to it, it looks fantastic, and it's probably the best I've seen in a value set. Sharp LC46SB54U Great HDTV for a reasonable price
Our requirements for an HDTV are that it have a GREAT picture (check!), good sound (check,) eye-popping colors (check,) and be user friendly (check.)
This is a great HDTV for regular folks who don't have a list of high tech requirements. It might stand up to the high tech test, I have no idea. Consumer reports rated this a very good HDTV, I bought it, and we're very happy with it. We don't play video games on it. We watch Tivo'd movies and programs and watch DVDs.
Picture quality, in my very humble opinion, is breathtaking. We found it to be a reasonably priced television that meets and exceeds all of our family's requirements.
We were surprised to find that the sound quality is very good, too. Complex sound and you can raise the levels quite loud.
We've had it for a few months and are still very happy with it.

Sharp LC46SB54U Don't get carried away with HDTV craze!
I could have rated 5 stars.
This model was heavily discounted as of April 09 and I paid just $820 at McMall in Santa Monica LA as a refurbished unit which was nothing but manufacturer's clearence of excess production or previous model ... and it was absolutely brand new unit. It is not even called Aquos but do not worry!
I spent so much time to reserach HDTVs and I would absolutely have chosen Sony Bravia W, Z, or XBR series if cost were no objective. Their picture on Blue Ray disc like Disney's "Nature" is absolutely beautiful on Bravias to the point I can almost say "Artistic". However the usage duration-hours- I watch TV and the souce I watch does not warrant spending so much money on "just a TV". Simply put, our life is not there sitting on couch watching TV all day.
I can mention that I as well as my wife have been in art field for a long time and we have critical eyes not to mention good ears which demands quality music.
As I researched extensively, I found critical truth: Picture quality is largely depends upon source quality. Also today's TVs are generally quite good regardless. However if you get TV larger than 36" screen, you must have 1080p and the picture on regular definition broadcasting on large screen TV is totally unacceptable. I shall say at least progressive scan reg rez pic on reg DVD is the least you may endure with.
This model does not have more than 2 HDMI inputs but can be expanded easily by an adapter. The model is great for the money we spent. You spend more money on quality audio instead of being abducted by difference in the picture quality between great HDTVs. Of cource you see a big difference between TVs of best quality and lesser quality but they are big deal only upon side to side comparison at stores.
We have one of all time best selling Hi-end audio speakers called Vandersteen 2ci without subwoofer or center channel speakers for more than a decade and very happy. (sound quality is absolutely nothing to do with 2ch or 7ch) ... we prefer quality over quantity. Whenever we have listened to Bose surround system in movie watching we felt our ears did bleed with the toy 3D effect! However, after getting 46" HDTV, we found we felt the need of a sub woofer as well as center channel. I am expecting to spend $2k for both from Vandersteen but the sound quality matters so much more to us especially when we watch music concert DVD with Hi rez sound recording. This is a great chance for us to enjoy the full potential of our favorite music source - Super Audio CD Format and HD Audio CD format which unfortunatelly never grasped general public's attention. People are mostly demonstrated with awful 3D toy sound effects with mass market sorround sound system but you will be alienated soon after coming back from a classical concert at Walt Disney concert Hall.
Unspoken truth - a really good hi-end sound system can have glimpse of real music while even the very best 1080p TV in the universe cannot possibly show the truth of a master piece oil painting. Spend a lot of money and buy a great LCD TV like Sony W series or higer only if watching movie is your life like movie director friend of ours but don't carry away if you belong to median income family group with other things to do in your life! Expect spending at least a good sorround sound bar. Buying a good HDTV alone is just like having a dinner at a 3 star restaurant as you have cheap wine! Also we found 46" TV is really small for movie watching anyway. We had to buy an articulate arm TV mount so that the screen would be closer to the viewing area and eyes. They are not cheap either.
Oh! By the way, I am cancelling TV subscription too. With HD option, the monthly expense is amazing! I intalled good TV antenna on the roof and will enjoy free HD. I will record HD programs on Tivo since my DVD recorder can no longer record new Over The Air Digital Broad casting. I will save nearly $1,000 evry year this way!!! Only down side is my baby can no longer watch Nogging and I cannot watch every NBA game but they may save our active time too! Just be careful not to buy any TV anatenna. Send personal email to antenna manufacturer with your home address and consult well bacause new Digital broadcasting will not use low VHF and high UHF frequency band but all anttenas sold have label of "Free HD". They are happy to recommend a particular model for your location over "any model".

Sharp LC46SB54U 46" LCD HDTV Value
The Sharp LC-46SB54U is a no frills, value based 46" LCD 1080P HDTV. The picture on this TV is really good. I compared it in-store with newer Samsung technology right next to it, and it compared favorably. I was worried about its sound capability when I heard it in-store, but when I hooked it up at home, the sound is actually quite good...especially with the simulated surround sound turned on.
Most menu functions are intuitive and easy to navigate, the exception being the channel add/delete function. When you power on the TV, a wizard guides you through some initial setup, including scanning for channels. This process scanned more than 150 extra blank channels into the lineup, which I had to delete out manually. This was a royal pain. Hopefully these settings will persist even if there is a power outage.
The anti-glare capability of the screen is very good, but this greatly diminishes the quality of the view you have when you are not looking at the screen straight on. Even though the specs brag of 176 degrees horizontal, I estimate that at about the 120 degree mark the screen doesn't look good enough to even worry about watching. The 6ms response time allows this TV to display very high motion video without blurring...I have been quite pleased with the TV in this area.
The stand is very solid, and the TV is very attractive looking. I was surpised how light the TV was for its size. I was able to pick it up by myself and set it on a 20" high stand. Yet the TV feels like it is built with quality.

If its more important to have a bigger TV than to have 120Hz, PIP, Universal remote, etc. than this may be the TV for you.

Sharp LC46SB54U Review
46" LCD HDTV Value
